The new IONIQ Electric​ has a 311-kilometer driving range and zero tailpipe emissions* thanks to an updated electric motor and a more powerful battery. The torque-rich performance of the 100 kW electric motor is now fueled by an updated, efficient 38.3 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery. When connected to a 100 kW direct current (DC) fast charger station, the battery only takes 54 minutes to charge to 80 percent state of charge (SOC) thanks to an on-board charger that has been improved to 7.2kW. Range based on the WLTP cycle. Depending on the road conditions, your driving style, and the temperature, your driving range may vary slightly.

For regenerative braking, paddle shifters are used.

With the steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, you can quickly increase your range and maintain a good state of charge by regulating the intensity of regenerative braking. There are four levels to choose from, each having a different deceleration and charge strength. To enable maximum strength regenerative braking, pull the left paddle shifter and hold it. Depending on the driving situation, it may be feasible to stop the automobile without using the standard brake pedal. In this phase, the charging strength is the most powerful.

Shift-by-wire with a button.

You can easily switch between drive, neutral, reverse, and park in the IONIQ Electric​ by using the buttons in the center console. There's also an electric parking brake. It makes room for two cup holders and a convenient wireless charging pocket for Qi-enabled smartphones in the center console.

Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go (SCC w/ S&G) is a cruise control system that allows you to stop and go. Maintains a fixed distance from the preceding vehicle while automatically reducing or raising speed up to a pre-defined limit in response to current traffic circumstances, boosting safety and reducing stress. In "stop and go" traffic, SCC maintains the pre-determined distance after coming to a halt, restarting the motor when forward movement ahead is recognized and a tap on the accelerator is supplied. When the car in front of you departs from a standing/stopped position, the Leading Vehicle Departure Alert feature alerts the driver.​
