Alex Maguire, at just 23 years old, has already made significant waves in the world of golf. Maguire's recent victory at the ‘St Andrews Links Trophy’ showcased his exceptional talent, securing a remarkable five-stroke win. His stellar performance included an impressive string of rounds, including an opening 70 over the New Course, followed by back-to-back 66s, and culminating in an outstanding eight-under-par 64 on the Old Course.
Before this achievement, Maguire made history by becoming the first player in three decades to successfully defend the East of Ireland Amateur title. His victory was solidified with a thrilling performance in a playoff, sinking crucial putts of 20 and 10 feet on the final two holes of regulation play.
Maguire's journey continued at The Amateur Championship at Hillside, where he demonstrated his resilience by making it to the quarter-finals. Maguire's exceptional performance earned him a coveted spot at Royal Liverpool.
